When I was last at my favourite market, the Oranjezicht City Farm market, I bought some luscious fresh fruit and vegetables. Then I spotted Sexy Socks on the way out, where I was able to create the perfect pairing of fruit and socks! They warmed my heart – for every pair of bamboo or cycling socks that you buy, they donate a pair of school socks to a child in a township. That is what Sexy Socks is all about – warm toes all round. Designed, sourced and manufactured in Cape Town, these eco-friendly, anti-odour socks are just gorgeous. If you love dogs, there is a design for you. Love cars – that too! Great for Father’s Day.
Grab your July issue of Food & Home Entertaining magazine and meet chefs Nic van Wyk and Westley Muller of Haute Cabrière, who I had the pleasure of interviewing for this article. Enjoy their recipes of kataifi-wrapped Goat’s cheese with baby beetroot and honey vinaigrette, honey-glazed duck breast and confit duck crépinette with baby vegetable & cardamom jus and vanilla panna cotta with strawberries and meringue.
